In the midst of the Brexit crisis, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced that she would resign as Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister on June 7, 2019.

Theresa May's success story is already warming up with 13 people starting Sunday, June 2, 2019, who have shown interest.

Among the candidates, Sam Gyimah, the current MP for East Surrey and former May government minister.

Gyimah declared his intention Sunday during an interview on Sky's Sophy Ridge on Sunday.

"I will be competing to become the next Conservative leader and Premier to expand the race. There is a wide range of candidates, but the views on Brexit are very limited, "he said.

So who is Sam Gyimah?

As his last name makes clear, Gyimah is of Ghanaian origin. He was born Samuel Phillip Gyimah of Ghanaian parents in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.

At the age of six, her parents separated. Gyimah's mother returned to Ghana with him and his two other siblings while his father stayed in the UK.

Gyimah stayed in Ghana for about 10 years and attended Achimota School before going to black in the UK, as part of his GCSE and his counterparts at Freman College.

He then attended Oxford University's Somerville College, where he studied politics, philosophy and economics and was elected president of the Oxford Union.

After school, Gyimah was employed by Goldman Sachs as an investment banker before starting his own business in 2003.

His company, Clearstone Training and Recruitment Limited, was closed in 2007.

In 2010, Gyimah was elected to the general election and held various positions in David Cameron's government.

Gyimah was named Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation in January 2018, but resigned in November 2018 to criticize May over his contract with Brexit.

If successful, Gyimah, born August 10, 1976, will become the first black man to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
