The 2019 Women's World Cup had an unusual amount of political connotations. This year's team was not only beautifully talented, but also had strong views on issues such as gay rights and women's equality. One of the team's captains, Megan Rapinoe, even had a little quarrel with President Donald Trump.

Rapinoe ended up having the last word while the US team won convincingly and won both Golden Ball and Golden Boot. During an appearance on Chuck Todd's show this morning, Rapinoe was asked what she would say about Trump's supporters.

Todd phrased the question as follows: "What do you say to a supporter of Trump who likes to watch you? And it's like, "I'd like her to go to the White House."

Sure #MTP, @ChuckTodd at @mPinoe (Megan Rapinoe): "I think the most difficult puzzle that we are in is a lot" is "how do you preach unity and at the same time you do not want to be near President Trump and I understand that. How do you do both? pic.twitter.com/VzasgaXwYB

Rapinoe replied, "Yes, I think I would try to share our message. Do you know that all people are created equal? Do you believe that equal pay should be mandatory? Do you believe that everyone should have health care? Do you think we should treat everyone with respect? "

The football star continued: "I admitted mistakes. I will continue to do so. I will continue to be vulnerable, honest, open and eager to have this conversation, because I think Trump's message excludes people who are like me and who I am, of course, but also many people from his base. And I think he's trying to divide in order to defeat, not to unite so we can all win.
