The Duke and Duchess of Susbad will keep arrangements for the birth of their first child privately, said Buckingham Palace.

The family of Harry and Meghan said in a statement: "The Duke and Duchess of Susbad are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from the UK and the world as they prepare for welcome their baby.

"Their Royal Highnesses made the personal decision not to divulge their plans for the arrival of their baby.

"The Duke and Duchess are looking forward to sharing this exciting news with everyone once they have had the opportunity to privately celebrate their new family."

The announcement seems to confirm that nothing indicates that the newborn, who will be the seventh in line of the throne, will not happen immediately and not in direct succession line. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared on the hospital steps a few hours after the birth of their three children, George, five, Charlotte, three, and Louis, eleven.

There has been no indication of where Meghan plans to deliver. The baby is expected in a few weeks. According to speculation, she could opt for a home birth or choose the NHS Frimley Park Hospital, closer to the couple's new home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor, than the Lindo Wing private building at St Mary's Hospital, where Kate gave birth.
