Thomas Markle Jr says that every move was "microscopically examined" in his home town, Grant's Pbad, made his family homeless after giving up his glazier job because of health problems. Mr. Markle added that he lived in a hotel room in Oregon with his fiancée, Darlene, his son and their two dogs, for two months, no one wishing to rent him a house. He criticized Meghan, who became a member of the royal family when she married Prince Harry last May, for not supporting him.
He told Sun Online: "It's the lowest point of my life.
"Living in a small hotel room has detrimental consequences for Darlene and her son – for all of us.
"And all because my life was suddenly catapulted into the spotlight – not my fault.
"Every movement has been examined under the microscope – not just for me, but for my entire family.
"Now, so much has been said about me – both true and false – no one wants to rent me a house or give me a job.
"It's hard to accept – especially when I've never asked that."
Markle stepped down earlier this year, but says his owner promptly gave him a notice of eviction.
After suing him, Mr. Markle then agreed to leave the property, but could not find anywhere else since.
He added that living in a hotel room had put his relationship with Darlene.
"It's very uncomfortable and expensive, we do not know how we're going to afford it.
"We often have two dogs and Darlene's son at home. I had to get a large storage unit so we did not have anything we had with us. It's not a pleasant way of life.
"I've worked all my life to live comfortably as a tailor-made glazier and that's my job, and I've always had that experience.
"It's not just a weak point, it's scary, it's really uncomfortable to have such an uncertain future."
The 52-year-old, however, has announced he plans to change his life by joining a boxing match with actor Henry "Nacho" Laun, also a friend of Mark Wahlberg, next month.
He said: "I practice boxing for celebrities because I want people to see that I am a normal person, but it is difficult to counter all the bad things.
"People think I'm wearing Meghan's jacket, but it's the hand that's been handed out to me.
"It's my life now. I can not live my old life even if I want it, but I still need to survive.
"I do not want Meghan bad mouth but I think everything could have been better managed at first."
Kensington Palace declined to comment when he was contacted by Express.co.uk.
