Ace Anan Ankomah, a popular legal practitioner, dismissed charges that he was involved in the Menzgold and Horizon Royal Diamonds scandal that had resulted in the arrest of Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM1, managing director of Menzgold Ghana Limited.

In a video posted on social media, one of Kevin Ekow's Baidoo Taylor claimed that the Emirati company Horizon Royal Diamonds had contacted the law firm Ace Ankomah to represent him in a fraud case involving two people, Adewoye Olorunfemi Adetunje, a Nigerian and Charles Opoku Darko, a Ghanaian.

Mr. Taylor added that after listening to and seeing photos of the Dubai company officials, Ace Anan Ankomah had agreed to lay charges and help them recover the $ 50 million owed to "scammers".

According to him, Ace Ankomah contacted the former president of EOCO, Dr. KK Amoah, whom he (Taylor) claimed to be the uncle of Ace, in order to help in this case.

But Mr. Ankomah, in a statement, demystified the allegations.

According to the statement, Ankomah's Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa and Ankomah (BELA) law firm was only hired by a lawyer based in Dubai on behalf of an Emirati company.

She said, "The work instruction did not mention or relate to either Menzgold or Nana Appiah Mensah. Neither the company nor I have been involved in incidents that allegedly took place in Dubai several months after we first became aware. "

He indicated that BELA had been instructed to continue the process when the incidents in Dubai concerning the Accra case and the Dubai incident were separate and unrelated.

"The client did not ask for our opinion on the Dubai incidents and we did not submit any. Every document or evidence we received from the client and that was intended for the police we handed over to the investigator of the commercial crime unit of the police, Chief Inspector Wisdom Semanu " , is it written.

At the same time, Mr. Ankomah denied allegations that Dr. KK Amoah, former head of EOCO, would be his uncle.

The statement read: "He (the boss of EOCO) is a fellow lawyer and I know him very well because we have the same hometown. I also consider him an older friend, as he considers me his superior to the bar. "
