The ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) still had not recovered from its defeat in the 2016 elections.
According to them, they decided to continually deceive the Ghanaians with their lies and their propaganda regarding the Menzgold saga.
S addressing the press at the "Truth Forum" series, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, director of party communication and MP for Parliament for Adentan's constituency, explained that they could not understand why the NDC was continually trying to blame the government for the collapse of Menzgold and constantly worrying government to settle Menzgold's customers as they did (NDC) when DKM's problems occurred posed.
According to him, they will continually follow the law to resolve the Menzgold saga, adding that the NDC government could have solved this problem when they appeared in 2012 under the name of Menzbanc before they metamorphose into Menzgold.
He reiterated that President Akufo-Addo had nothing to do with the distressed CEO of Menzgold, as the NDC predicted it.
The New Patriotic Party will not be distracted by these nonsensical statements by the NDC that has refused to sympathize with the depositors whose funds are stuck at Menzgold.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as a firearm the government's efforts to help injured customers of distressed gold distribution company, Menzgold Company Limited, to recover their money.
According to the NDC, the recent measures taken by the Office of the Fight against Organized and Economic Crime (EOCO) to freeze the accounts of the Director General of the company, Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM 1, leave much to be desired.
At a news conference in Accra, NDC National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi said efforts by the government to convince NAM 1, currently held by the UAE authorities, to hold trials , are not enough.
He is therefore convinced that the only way for the government to correct the "greatest financial calamity to the people of Ghana" is to compensate Menzgold's clients.
"We insist that the government has a constitutional obligation to protect its citizens and protect their interests, including their economic rights, at all times. The state has enough power and resources to recover money from Menzgold's customers or to compensate them. This responsibility should not be abdicated as if the government was only a pbadive observer in this whole debacle, "he said.
