Menzgold Company Limited's founder, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1), reacted to the controversy surrounding the activities of her gold distribution company.
In a tweet of Wednesday, November 28, 2018, Mr. Mensah lamented that some people fell foul of the "misconceptions" about his business and have further denigrated his name and brand Menzgold.
"Instead of being resolved, you fell in love with misconceptions and denigration of my name and brand. We will do what is necessary now. God knows we have defended our collective cause. # Posterity # Hi! Menzgold Global, "said his tweet.
Mr Mensah's tweet comes one day after Menzgold's injured customers staged a protest against the company.
Angry customers belonging to a group called the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold said that after several months of promises to pay them 15% of their investment capital blocked, the company had not met expectations.
Clients have asked the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the government to order Menzgold to pay them their investment.
Menzgold is fighting the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the BoG for its activities. The company dragged the SEC and the BoG to court to get away from its activities, but government agencies insisted that Menzgold was not allowed to do business as he did by paying dividends to its customers.
The SEC therefore asked Menzgold to end its activities until it complies with the laws governing the industry.
Some Menzgold customers also asked Mr. Mensah to meet and talk to them in person about the plans he had to repay for their investments and stop processing their problems by tweets.
