Mercedes-Benz is currently touting its cutting-edge MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system at this year’s virtual consumer electronics show, and the company’s video showcase for the technology includes a preview of the lineup of the upcoming EQS EV. A full debut for the luxury sedan shouldn’t be too far off.
The unique view of the EQS highlights its rear. While the body is mostly in shadow, it is possible to see the taillights with a stripe that covers the width of the tail. An elegant roofline gives the sedan a sleek silhouette.

The EQS will boast of a powertrain delivering over 435 miles (700 kilometers) on one charge in the WLTP test. Rumors suggest it would throw 470 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 560 pound-feet (759 Newton-meters). An AMG version could eventually arrive with more than 600 hp (447 kW).
The EQS Hyperscreen is 56 inches wide and includes three screens. The setup includes a digital instrument panel, a huge infotainment monitor and a screen specifically for the passenger. The person sitting with the shotgun can assist the driver by controlling the stereo or navigation system. In addition, in some markets, the system can even play streaming videos.
For greater occupant comfort, there is an optional HEPA air filtration system. It takes up some of the space under the hood that would usually be for the combustion engine.
If the EQS sedan isn’t your style, Mercedes is already confirming that a crossover version is on the way. All the signs say it uses the same EV architecture platform as the car, so buyers would all have the same equipment but with a higher ride height and a more rugged look.
Mercedes is yet to say when the EQS will debut, but we do know it’s early 2021. Sales start before the end of the year.
