Mesut Ozil returned to the game for Arsenal against BATE Borisov
Unai Emery praised Mesut Ozil's performance in Arsenal's 3-0 win over BATE Borisov but said he could not guarantee her a regular start.
According to Emery, Ozil had been "important and positive", the Gunners having eliminated a deficit of 1-0 in the first leg to secure their place in the last 16 matches of the Europa League.
Ozil played his first 90 minutes in 2019, his only two other outings since Dec. 26 having been off the bench due to a combination of illness and minor injuries.
The club's highest paid player responded with a strong performance on his return, a goal against himself and the efforts of defenders Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Emery revealed before Thursday's game that he wanted more consistency from Ozil. After his return, he said: "Today, he showed what he wanted.

"If he's available, like in the last two weeks, we're going to play a lot of games and we sometimes need him in the starting lineup and sometimes on the bench because we have a lot of players to help us out.

Ozil himself wrote on Twitter: "It's such a good feeling to come back on the pitch." Great performance from the entire team.
