Mesut Ozil makes a gesture touching 1,000 children on his wedding day

The day of the wedding usually concerns the bride and groom – but Mesut Ozil made sure that this was not the case for her great occasion.

The Arsenal midfielder will make the connection with his longtime girlfriend, Amine Gulse, the former Miss Turkey on Friday.

Before the ceremony, Ozil revealed his touching gesture that will allow him to pay 1,000 children for a surgery that will change their lives.

The 30-year-old also asked his friends and family who were attending his wedding to follow his example and, rather than donating traditional gifts, he would like them to donate to a charity that is important to him.

BigShoe, a charity supported by Ozil for more than five years, funds operations for children in developing countries who suffer from burns, club feet, cleft lip and palate.

He wrote on social media: "Many fans have asked my close relatives and friends for our wishes for our wedding.

"As a professional footballer, I am in a privileged and privileged position. However, I invite all those who wish and can help support a very special project that is dear to both of them and that we will undertake with Big Shoe.

"Amine and I will pay for the surgery costs of 1,000 children in need.

"I would be happy if, in addition, many more treatments around the world could be filled.

"I really took to heart the BigShoe team and the pbadion with which they treat their young patients.

"BigShoe works alongside German and Swiss doctors to help children around the world by offering life-changing surgeries.

"We have already worked together on surgeries in Brazil (2014 World Cup), Africa (2016) and Russia (2018). We now want to move on to the next step and help children around the world. "
