The star will both star and direct the next film in the series.
Michael B. Jordan will direct the next and third Creed film.
The Creed series followed Adonis Creed, Apollo Creed’s son from the Rocky balboa franchise. The new film series also featured performances by original Rocky artist Sylvester Stallone, although there is no confirmation if he will return for this episode.
The film is slated for release over Thanksgiving weekend on November 22, 2022.
Discussing the announcement, Jordan said, “Achievement has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. “ Creed III ” is that moment – a time in my life where I became more confident of who I am, running an agency in my own history, maturing personally, growing professionally and learning from greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel. Washington and other high level administrators that I respect. All of this sets the table for this moment.
“This franchise and in particular the themes of ‘Creed III’ are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter in Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.
Creed’s first film was released in 2015 to earn over $ 170 million, with the 2018 sequel grossing over $ 214 million.
