Michael Nader, the soap opera star best known for playing Dex Dexter in “Dynasty” and Dimitri Marick in “All My Children,” died of a battle with cancer on Monday.

He was 76 years old.

Nader died at his northern California home with his wife Jodi Lister and their rescue dog Storm by his side, manager Richard Schwartz confirmed to USA TODAY. Schwartz directed USA TODAY to Lister’s statement on MichaelFairmanTV.com.

“With a heavy heart I share the news of the passing of my beloved Michael,” Lister told the outlet. “He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. He will be missed forever.”

Lister and Nader have been married for almost two decades: “We have had a wonderful 18 years with the many dogs we have raised and adopted.”

Former “All My Children” star John Callahan dies at 66 from a stroke

Nader played Dex Dexter, the third husband of Joan Collins’ character Alexis Colby in the ABC soap opera “Dynasty” from 1983 to 1989. The cast gathered in March for a virtual fundraiser for research on survivors of COVID-19 with long-term symptoms, like “Dynasty” star Emma Samms.

“Michael was so excited to reconnect with his Dynasty cast friends,” Lister said in his statement.

Nader is also known for playing Dimitri Marick, the husband of Susan Lucci’s character Erica Kane, in the ABC soap opera “All My Children” from 1991 to 2001. He reprized his role in 2013. His other acting credits at the television include “Gidget”, “As the World Turns” and “Lucky Chances”.

He is survived by Lister, his daughter Lindsay with his ex-wife Robin Weiss, his son-in-law Trevor and his granddaughter Juniper.
