Director Roland Emmerich’s new film Moonfall has added a few new cast members, including Michael Pena, who replaces previously attached Stanley Tucci.
Tucci, 60, had previously signed the big-budget space drama in October, although Deadline reports he was forced to step down due to a government-imposed travel ban on flights from the UK to destination of Canada.
Pena, 44, joins a star group that also includes Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Eme Ikwuakor, Charlie Plummer and Donald Sutherland.

Moonfall focuses on a mysterious force that knocks the Moon out of orbit, sending it on a collision course with Earth that could very well end humanity as we know it.
The story follows, “a motley crew” heading into space in a last ditch effort to save life as we know it.
The team will leave behind, “all those they love and risk everything to land on the lunar surface and save our planet from annihilation.”
Mysterious: Moonfall focuses on a mysterious force that knocks the Moon out of orbit, sending it on a collision course with Earth that could very well end humanity as we know it.
Pena will play Tom Wilson, a wealthy car dealer married to Brian Harper’s (Wilson) ex-wife Brenda, played by another new cast member Carolina Bartczak.
Other new additions to the cast are Maxim Roy as Gabriella Auclair, a “ hardened army captain ” who helps the heroes on their mission, and Stephen Bogaert as NASA Director Albert Hutchings.
Lionsgate is distributing the film in North America, slated for release in 2022, though it is not known when production can begin.

The co-writer and director also produces through his Centropolis Entertainment banner alongside Kloser for Street Entertainment.
Executive Producers are Dennis Wang, James Wang, JP Pettinato, Marco Shepherd, Ute Emmerich, Carsten Lorenz, Stuart Ford and Karl Spoerri and Viviana Vezzani of SPG3 Entertainment.

Pena is stepping out of Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, which hit theaters in February and was one of the last films to debut before the COVID-19 pandemic closed theaters.
He’s also returned to the small screen, reprising his role of Enrique ‘Kiki’ Camarena in an episode of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico.
The actor will next be seen on the big screen in Warner Bros. ‘Tom and Jerry, alongside Chloe Moretz, which hits theaters and on HBO Max on February 26.
