The first Chevrolet mid-engine Corvette will have a familiar name. The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette will debut as "Stingray" when it was revealed on July 18th.
If it sounds familiar, that's it. Many model years of the Corvette were christened Stingray, starting in 1963 with the second generation of the sports car.
The Stingray brand lasted until 1976. The GM Chevrolet brand brought the name back in 2014 with the seventh-generation Corvette. Chevrolet announced Monday that "the name Stingray will live."
For weeks, Chevrolet has been broadcasting news and other teasers on its eighth-generation Corvette. Earlier this month, the brand introduced the wheel of the new generation Corvette.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel features the Corvette Cross Flag logo as a centerpiece with two spokes. The controls are built into the wheel. The steering wheel has a square shape with a fairly wide opening, which suggests that the designers wanted to give an adequate view to a large digital group.
