The devastated business partner of Mike Thalbaditis has confirmed that the Love Island star's restaurant will open in his honor, a week after his tragic death.
Mike – fondly nicknamed Muggy Mike since his time at the ITV2 dating series – was found hanging in a park near his childhood home a week ago.
Since then, more and more information is reporting about his personal and financial problems, as well as his plans to open a new restaurant in Loughton, Esbad.
Now, Mike's business partner, Scott Neilson, has revealed that The Skillet will actually be up and running, as Mike would like.
In a statement on Instagram, Scott wrote, "Just to respond to all the speculation, I want to say that we'll open The Skillet when it's ready, and it has been a difficult week for us to keep things moving.
"However, Mike would have liked this café to open – he has spent the last two months working hard every day to make this place a success, so we have mobilized to prepare it for everyone, especially Mike.
"I can not wait to share it with you all, and I will announce the date of opening soon."
However, fans asked if Scott could rename the restaurant to honor Mike, who found fame in the 2017 Love Island series.
One of them wrote: "Only an idea but maybe The Skillet should call Mike Thalbaditis or Micheal Thalbaditis?"
Another said: "Change of name for Thalbaditis, respectful tribute to him."
But others were not in agreement, pointing out that Mike and Scott had chosen the name together before Mike's death.
"I think the name should stay as they had agreed and as Mike wanted, he probably would not have wanted the joint venture to bear his name, and they can not all be named after him. good luck with all this @ scotty_neils You have the full support of everyone and your opening night will be amazing. "
The news comes after Mike's friends and family have organized a moving vigil in the forest where Mike died.
His friends honored him Friday by meeting in Edmonton Park, lighting lanterns and candles in his memory.
They captured the emotional atmosphere that occurred, sharing images of loved ones, lighting their lanterns before letting them symbolically fly to the sky.
