Names related to his role include Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte, but the former defensive midfielder, who spent 13 years with the club, ignores speculation and remains focused on his work week after week.
"In Milan, I do not build anything, we just have to prepare for the upcoming matches, one at a time," said Gattuso. "Today, nothing can be planned, football has changed. There are so many unknowns. Ten or twelve years ago, it was more difficult for a player to leave.
"So we have to focus on what we need to do. We are in good hands [Paolo] Maldini and Leonardo know how to move on the market: they took two important actors like [Krzysztof] Piatek and [Lucas] Paqueta.
"I'm not going so fast with my head. I am the one who touches reality with my own hands. Today, I have to review the results and the daily work, as for my players. On my way, I do not have that kind of thoughts, I only think about the next game. I must do my best and put those around me in the best conditions.
"I do not want compliments, I have to thank only the team that does important things. At this moment, as before, I do not read much. I have to go on, I think I can do this job and I do not need to tell myself that I am good.
"I know what I can give in a group and we will continue. They are killing coaches who have won as much as [Jose] Mourinho [Carlo] Ancelotti and [Mbadimiliano] Allegri … "

Gattuso however cautioned that Milan could not afford to be complacent as he was looking for a third consecutive win in Serie A.
"I am very worried about tomorrow," he added. "Empoli has a coach who prepares well, combines technical and defensive organization. Easy games do not exist. We must not underestimate the opponent.
"You have to be very careful because Iachini is unbelievable in the preparation of the matches. Empoli knows how to dribble and go vertically, on the pieces of board they know how to play well. The match will be difficult tomorrow.
