New statistics reveal that nearly 13 million adult Australians expose their viewers to a risk of heart disease. More than two-thirds of Australian adults are at risk of being the country's biggest killer with at least three risk factors, according to data released Sunday by the Heart Foundation. This equates to three in four men and one in two women with a trio of risk factors. "It's alarming, because we know that the more risk factors you have, the more likely you are to have a heart attack or stroke," said the Foundation's Chief Medical Advisor, Professor Garry Jennings. "Although you can not change your family history, it's important to understand that if you have hypertension, cholesterol, or lifestyle risk factors, you can certainly take action to reduce your risk."
