Most of us would prefer to forget our tricky teens, but Mindy Kaling is happy to see his for Netflix again.
The streaming giant has placed an order of 10 episodes for A humorous series inspired by Kaling's childhood, TVLine has learned.
Written and produced by Kaling, the project will follow the complicated life of an American teenage girl of first-generation Indian descent. The main role of comedy has not been chosen yet.
Kaling will also act as a showrunner alongside the co-creator of the series, Lang Fisher, who has already worked with Kaling on The Mindy project. Howard Klein (Office) and David Miner (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) are also part of executive producers.
The comedy, which has no title yet, is part of the global development deal between Kaling and Universal Television, which will produce the Netflix series.
Since the end of his six seasons as a The Mindy projectMindy Lahiri, Kaling TV credits include NBC short-lived comedy Champions and an appearance on It's always sunny in Philadelphia. She was also screenwriter and executive producer at the upcoming Hulu publication. Four weddings and a funeral mini-series, an adaptation of the 1994 film that should be released later this year.
