The Chairman of the Board of the Minerals Commission, Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo, has asked Ghanaians, both nationals and foreigners with mining expertise, to unite to get into the business. 39 large-scale mining in the country rather than in small-scale or illegal mining that has many negative effects on the environment.

Mr. Boafo said this when board members embarked on a day of familiarization tour of the Adamus Resources Limited (Nzema Gold Operations) mining site in Esiama, Nzema East District, in the west. from the country.

The Chairman of the Board explained that the visit was part of the Board's strategy to become familiar with mining companies across the country in order to contribute to policy development for the sector.

He commended the mining companies that the board of directors has visited so far, pointing out that they had all followed the good practices of the mining industry which, coupled with government interventions, have led Ghana to overtake South Africa as the leading gold producing country in Africa and seventh in the world. the world, adding that Ghana could move to 5th or 6th place in the world if illegal mining was reduced.

Mr. Boafo called on the government to encourage foreign mining companies to register on the stock market, adding that "it is when your listing that your capital will go", in Canada and Australia, many of their mining companies have been publicly traded.

The Chairman called on Adamus Resources Limited to implement, in addition to the local content policy, a state-of-the-art physical infrastructure tailored to the mining communities in which they operate, citing Johannesburg, South Africa as a place that has truly benefited from mining companies and stressed that similar development could be replicated in Ghana.

In a presentation to the members of the Board of the Minerals Commission, Adamus Acting Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Halilu Mohammed, said that Adamus Resources Limited was managed by highly qualified professionals from the technical fields, operational and finance and finance. Since 2009, this contribution has reached 104 million USD to the Ghanaian economy.

Regarding community investments, he said that a trust fund had been created as a broader sustainable development program for local communities and that an amount of 12 million USD had as well was allocated to three communities and all their host communities would then be linked.

He said 11.3 million USD had been paid to local farmers, 800 of whom were helped to restore their livelihoods, and that the company successfully resettled Teleku Bokazu, Salman and Nkroful communities.

Mohammed said the company is firmly committed to the highest standards of environmental management, health and safety of employees and neighboring communities.

The Acting Director General pointed out that although the mine had some successes, it was seriously challenged by illegal mining activities, the demand for community concessions and military withdrawal.

In this regard, he urged the government to reconsider the decision to remove the army from the mining sites, stressing that the absence of the army had had serious consequences on the society since many minors The illegal immigrants had resumed their activities fully and had some cases attacked the mine personnel.
