The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, insisted that the state stop caring for former President John Dramani Mahama.

He argued that since Mr. Mahama aspired to become president again, it was not normal for the state to pay its bills.

The minister called for an open debate to determine whether the state should take over Mr. Mahama or not.

According to Mr. Osei-Mensah, he is convinced that the state should not look after someone who aspires to become president.

"Mr. Mahama is now a presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that is the truth of the gospel." With his presidential ambition, I am convinced that the state should stop take care of him as a former president, "he said.

The minister added, "If the state continues to take care of him, all other presidential candidates should also be supported by the state".

He spoke to hundreds of NPP members at the Ashanti NPP regional youth conference and the inauguration of working committees on youth.

Held in Kumasi last Saturday, she was honored by Samira Bawumia, the second lady, and Henry Nana Boakye, National Youth Organizer of the NPP.

Mr. Osei-Mensah, overflowing with rage, said, "Mr. Mahama has nothing to offer the country after failing to fulfill the duties of president.

"Mahama only wants to come back as president so he can steal the coffers of the state again," he said.

He therefore urged the NPP youth to campaign vigorously for the NPP's "2020 victory" to be an agreement.
