Residents of the Municipality of Nzema East, in the Western Region, will soon have a sigh of relief as the Hon. Kwesi Amoako Atta, Minister of Roads and Highways, is preparing for a grbad cutting ceremony for the construction of Gwira roads.
This decision responds to the urgent need to restore the deplorable nature of roads that hinder the life and transportation of farm produce to major markets.
They include Simpa Junction in Gwira Aiyinasi, Gwira Aiyinasi in Gwira Wiawso, Gwira Wiawso in Gwira Ebanso, Gwira Ebanso in Gwira Asonti, among others.
These are predominantly cocoa producing areas, but successive governments have failed to tackle the poor road network.
The chief of Gwiranman's traditional council, Awulea Angamatu Agyampa II, who also serves as chairman of the traditional council of Nzema, cried over the suffering endured by the inhabitants on these roads in bad condition.
But in an exclusive interview with this reporter, the city's chief municipal officer (MCE), the Hon. Frank Okpenyen revealed that the government had secured funds for the project.
He added that the Minister of Roads and Highways would soon cut the grbad so that construction could begin.
"Finally, the Akufo-Addo Government has secured funds and the Honorable Amoako Atta will be visiting Gwira on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 to celebrate the inauguration ceremony and I am very pleased that these roads are our main concern. " , he stated.
It will be remembered that during the celebration of the Kundum Festival in 2018 by the chiefs and inhabitants of Axim, President Akufo-Addo, who was the special guest of honor, badured the people his commitment to build the roads of Gwira.
The ERM revealed that, aside from the roads of Gwira, the Minister of Roads will cut the same day for the construction of Nsien Township roads linking the Nsien SHS campus.
"On Monday, July 22, 2019, the Honorable Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Minister of Transport, will commission the DVLA office complex in Ayiskro, in the municipality of Nzema East, which is good news for the sake of my region, "he noted.
He added that "President Akufo-Addo should cut for the construction of a landing beach at Axim on Tuesday, July 23, 2019".
The MCE recommends that residents of Nzema East Municipality refrain from any partisan politics and rally behind the government in place for development, stating that "Partisan politics is killing us and that it should belong in the past".
He concluded by congratulating the industry member, the Hon. Catherine Afeku for lobbying for these projects and urging the public to rally behind the MP to lobby for more development projects.
