Interior Minister Ambrose Dery apologized unambiguously to media companies and journalists for the attacks they suffered on security personnel.
He also instructed security agencies to take immediate steps to build bridges with the media, which he described as "partners worthy of maintaining security".

Addressing reporters after his address at the opening session of the performance appraisal meeting of the Interior Ministry agencies in 2018, Mr. Dery called the "attacks" violent against media professionals "of" unhappy ".

Context
In its issue of Tuesday, March 19, 2019, The Daily Graphic published that no security person has been prosecuted for badaulting more than 25 journalists and media employees since 2006.

He urged security agencies to be vigilant and share information that would help suppress the criminal elements of society and ensure the safety of members of the public.
"Ghana can not continue to benefit from accelerated socio-economic development and to attract local and international investors only when the protection of life and property, security and safety are privileged," he said.
He badured that the government will continue to provide the necessary support to the security agencies to function well.
Overall view
Giving an overview of the sector, Mr. Dery said there had been an improvement in agency performance in 2018 compared to 2017.
For example, he said that the Ghana National Fire Service had successfully managed 4,896 unwanted fires against the 5,928 fires recorded in 2017.
He explained that the improved performance of the service was the result of increased public awareness of fire by the GNFS.
The Ghanaian Minister of Immigration (GIS) has carried out 1,753 inspections on various companies, 997 in hotels, 15 in residential premises and 126 in educational establishments.
"The inspections resulted in the arrest of 544 foreign nationals, of whom 123 resided in the country without a permit, compared to 312 arrests in 2017," he said.
