The new Western regional minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has badured that the three girls kidnapped in the metropolis Sekondi-Takoradi would be brought back to their respective families.
According to the minister, "the police work very hard and worked hard to find our girls".
He said, "I want to badure all residents that with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and security agencies, we will definitely bring back the abducted girls."
The regional minister commented on the statement by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) that police found out where the three kidnapped girls were.
The victims
The first victim, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, and a third year student at the University of Education, Winneba, lived with her parents in Diabene, near Takoradi.
She was kidnapped on August 17, 2018 in Kansaworodo.
The second victim, Ruth Love Quayson, 18, had just completed Fijai High School in Sekondi and was living with her parents in Diabene, near Sekondi.
She was kidnapped on December 4, 2018 at the junction of Butumegyabu (BU) in Takoradi.
Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, age 15, is the third victim and freshman at Sekondi College. She lived with her parents in West Fijai, near Sekondi. She was kidnapped on December 21, 2018, near Nkroful.
Sending to the media on his arrival at Takoradi airport last Thursday, after being sworn in as the new regional minister, Darko-Mensah said: "We know that the police have already acted so, so I know that it will help too. "
Enhanced security
Mr Darko-Mensah is committed to strengthening the security of the region's inhabitants despite the recent security problems.
He said the safety of people and businesses in the region was essential to attract investors to the region.
He said: "I think security is very important to attract investors in the West region."
Mr Darko-Mensah said that despite the influx of foreigners into the region as a result of the oil discovery, his administration would work hard to resolve security issues in the region.
