The adult shelter, the first of its kind in the country, will be a refuge for women victims of human trafficking.

The Anti-Trafficking and Trafficking Unit of Ghana Immigration Services has rescued 216 adults. victims. In 2018, the two institutions rescued 341 victims. of these, 95 were adults and the other children.

She noted that although convictions have increased significantly, they face challenges because adult victims, especially women, do not testify in court proceedings because they feel threatened, which is why the government is has built a safe and well-appointed place.

The Minister of Gender Equality presented the articles to the Chief Executive of the Anti-Trafficking Secretariat, Victoria Natsu, and urged her to work tirelessly to ensure that the victims of the refuge feel loved and safe from danger.

She also thanked the US Embbady for strengthening Ghana's efforts in the fight against human trafficking and urged organizations and philanthropists to support the shelter by providing them with articles.
