Super-agent Mino Raiola said it was "important" for his client Matthijs de Ligt to play in Italy, while the Dutch defender is getting closer to his much vaunted run at Juventus.
The future of De Ligt was one of the transfer stories of the summer since Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were all linked to a move by the Ajax captain.
The three clubs seemed to lead the race for the 19-year-old at different stages, but De Ligt finally chose to move to Juventus on a contract valued at around € 67.5 million. books.
And Raiola says the challenge for a central defender to play in Serie A was one of the reasons for the move.
