The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) preliminary investigation revealed that the kidnapping of a pregnant woman in Takoradi was a forgery.

It also emerged that the 29-year-old was not pregnant as has been widely reported.

Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah made the revelations in an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben FM.

“Based on their preliminary investigations, the NIB suspects that this whole story was false and that the doctor who even examined her revealed that she was not pregnant. This is the immediate information we have. The police are always with her, ”he said.

The victim, Josephine Panyin Mensah, reportedly took a morning walk from Amanoo Road to the Paa Grant roundabout as part of her routine exercise on Thursday September 16 and did not return.

A search team was called after her mother received a call from an unknown person who said they couldn’t use it for what they wanted.

The suspects also said they dumped her somewhere; a relative said JoyNews.

She was then found in Axim in the municipality of Nzema East of the West region.

But Mr. Darko-Mensah, who is also the chairman of the Western Region Security Council, refuted the claims.

He said, however, that police and NIB staff were still with the suspect at Axim General Hospital to find out the whole truth.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s husband insists she was pregnant before her disappearance.
