Former Adaklu District Executive (DCE) Chief Phanuel Donkoh Kadey, who was appointed by President Akufo-Addo for another term was rejected by Assembly members.

Mr. Donkoh Kadey obtained 9 of the 18 votes cast, failing to obtain the necessary requirement to remain the DCE for Adaklu District.

It was the first to be rejected in the ongoing confirmation of MMDCEs in the Volta region.

Ms. Emilia Emefa Adzimah for the Agotime Ziope Assembly was also rejected. Out of 22 votes cast, she managed to collect 10.

Volta Regional Minister Dr Archibald Yao Letsa ahead of the start of the vote, according to JoyNews correspondent Ivy Setordjie urged assembly members from both districts to confirm the candidates.

The minister noted that it was necessary for the candidates to be confirmed so that development projects could continue in the neighborhoods.

In the case of Agortime Ziope district, the minister urged assembly members to vote for the candidate, as she was the only woman nominated in the Volta region.

For his part, Adaklu MP Kwame Agbodza said there was a need for confirmation of MMDCEs to take place in a transparent environment and without interference from individuals or groups of people.
