ORLANDO, Fla., April 18, 2019 / PRNewswire / – Mocha OB, a group of more than 500 OB / GYN women, family physicians and OB-trained cardiologists, worked throughout the week on various activities and issued the following statement on Black Mother's Week :

"As women of color, we are acutely aware of the crisis that black women are experiencing during pregnancy.Black women die in childbirth at a rate 4 times higher than that of any other ethnic group." As OBGYNs We are on the front lines of the fight Every day, we work tirelessly to save the lives of pregnant women whose voices are not heard and whose lives are not valued. The systems currently in place do not respond in such a way Adequate to the needs of the women of the black community for we are doctors, we have been patients who have concrete experience of the existing barriers to our well-being.Until now, our contribution as female PHYSICIANS has not been included in discussions to resolve this health care crisis.

We collectively believe that a team effort is needed to reverse the well-being trend.

T- Speed of Execution – We believe that early access to health care to optimize pre-pregnancy health is essential. There is a need for states to provide Medicaid extension and health care facilities in rural and urban communities to diagnose and treat diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases and other conditions. Obesity BEFORE a pregnancy occurs. This access will ensure that our mothers are in the best shape possible to cope with the physical demands of childbirth.

E-Education and Commitment Educate our colleagues and support staff in the health sector about the potential for implicit biases to make cloud judgment and delay life-saving care. Take the time to teach our patients to fully understand the principles behind our tests, our decision-making process and our interventions. Encourage churches, civic organizations and non-OB physicians to partner with us to build trust in the medical community

A- Advocacy – Encourage patients to have lawyers who ask important questions during their antenatal visits and support patients during and after birth. Encourage doula care.

M- Mentoring – Mentoring and increasing the number of midwives, doulas and color doctors so that patients have access to more providers with similar cultural perspectives.

We are committed to making efforts to work with national and national agencies, professional organizations and governing bodies to achieve change. We will remain visible and engaged throughout our work by delivering babies and helping our mothers in the best way possible. "

Dedicated to women's health,
OB Mocha
