He noted that deployment and distribution of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in states would begin soon after the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, certified it safe for use. emergency.
According to him, “NAFDAC took a sample of the Moderna vaccine for its own statutory review.
“Once they gave us the green light, we would begin administering the vaccine and rolling it out in the states.
“However, the cold chain facilities that would help preserve Moderna vaccines have been purchased and deployed in all 36 states of the federation, including the CTF.
“With the advent of the Delta variant of COVID-19, some states have been identified as heavily affected states. For them, the emergency use of the vaccine would benefit from rapid deployment. “
SGF also urged Nigerians to follow all preventive measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
He said: “My appeal to Nigerians is to be very careful about this disease.
“They should know that COVID-19 has not gone away and is coming back this time with a lot of nastiness.
“The Delta variant does not respect anyone, so we must continue to follow all non-pharmaceutical preventive measures.
“We need to continue to wear masks, maintain social distancing, good hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers. “
