Modular system of artificial reefs by Alex Goad

[ad_1]

Look at the underwater construction of a modular system of artificial reefs developed by designer Alex Goad based in Melbourne.

The locking components of the system are designed to nest as Lego. Each piece is cast in ceramic using a 3D printed mold before being fitted with steel reinforcements and filled with marine concrete.

Permanent structures can be used as coral reefs or replace declining habitats of reef-dwelling species.
