A mom says that an agricultural program on pregnant cows helped her conceive after four miscarriages.
Lowri Jones said that she had been trying to tell doctors that she knew something was wrong when her energy had dropped as soon as she was pregnant, as a result of the birth of her first son in 2011.
She lost five babies, including twins, but she was simply told that she "needed God on her side," reports North Wales Live.
It was only when Llangwm's mother, Conwy, was watching an S4C show, Ffermio, about the chemical iodine imbalances in cattle, which made her think that was her problem.
She said: "I tried to tell the doctors that something was wrong.
"Obviously, I had a successful pregnancy with my first son, but after that, every pregnancy left me without energy, I was so sick.
"But after undergoing my fourth miscarriage, the last time I wore twins, I was just told that I needed God on my side and would continue to try."
She added, "One night I was sitting on the couch watching a Welsh agriculture program when the veterinarian, Cen Williams, was telling that he had noticed more dead calves than d & rsquo; # 39; habit.
"Those born alive were very lethargic and took a long time to get up.
"The vet said that it was because of a lack of iodine in the soil that had been washed away by the rain.
"This had caused thyroid problems in cows, I knew that I had a thyroid problem and that it was not monitored enough.
"The cows received stimulation of iodine and thyroxine and were much better and more calves are born alive.
"I sat down and thought it was what was wrong with me."
The program encouraged Lowri to seek new medical care and to require additional tests.
She also used the Internet to do her own research and started cooking with a special salt containing iodine.
Her determination sighted referred to a thyroid specialist and she received thyroxine every other week when she became pregnant with her second son, Gwil, born in 2015.
Lowri added, "Getting pregnant was not the problem for me, it was keeping the baby, but once I started taking thyroxine, I was full of life and I felt much better.
"I just knew that my pregnancy would be over.
"Honestly, I think if I had not seen the program, Gwil would not be here today … God knows how many other miscarriages I would have had."
Now, Lowri believes that more needs to be done to help couples who suffer repeated miscarriages and asks for support from the Welsh government.
Gorwel of Grwp Cynefin, the youth mentor for the homelessness prevention team, said, "The more I got angry and asked for tests, the more they listened, but that should not be so.
"I firmly believe that you know your own body and I knew that I did not just feel tired because of pregnancy, there was more than that.
"But why did I have to lose five babies before being sent for testing while all of this could have been avoided?"
"I also think that there must be a place where people can talk about miscarriage.
"My first was a nightmare, I was in bed for three days, I bled profusely and no one phoned to watch me.
"Four times I left my mentorship job at Ruthin High School because of my mental state.
"I was about to get pregnant, have a miscarriage and go back to work, and I did not really have time to mourn in three years.
"When Gwil arrived, I could not leave him, so I started a house restoration project and that's the best thing I've ever done.
"I have recharged my batteries, I had time, time to think and time to mourn and now I'm back in a job that I appreciate that makes me appreciate what j & # 39; ai ".
