The Taycan could actually be better than originally planned in the concept version

Several media were invited to visit Sweden during the Porsche Taycan test drive to see prototypes, chat with engineers and even take a few walks.

The Taycan is considered the main competitor of the Tesla Model S and it will be interesting to compare the two later this year, when the electric Porsche will arrive on the market.

First, the Taycan Porsche will offer several AWD and four-wheel drive powertrains. Coach says about three from mid-450 hp to over 600 hp (potentially 630 hp). The fourth version, a single-engine rear-wheel drive of a power of just over 300 hp, is under development, but it has not been decided yet as it does not have a single engine. There is no clear answer as to demand (and profitability).

It is interesting to note that the rear drive unit consists of a two-speed transmission (forward transmission is at a single speed), which is a new solution in a series model, which was previously seen in some low-volume BEV models.

Porsche tries to maintain the feel of conventional models and in the case of regenerative braking, it was decided to activate it only when the driver pressed the brake pedal (the first stage is intended for regeneration and the last stage of application of the pedal is for friction brakes too.Raising the accelerator pedal only causes the slowdown

The German manufacturer intends to offer several driving modes, including the ability to disable traction control. Each mode will produce a slightly different artificial engine sound.

The total weight of the car should be comparable to that of the Panamera hybrid (2,250 kg).

In terms of performance, not only will the numbers be solid, but the Taycan will be able to maintain performance over a longer period, according to Porsche engineers. The numbers would be better than in conceptual form:

  • 0-100 km / h (62 mph) to "Well below" 3.5 seconds
  • "More than a dozen departures at 0-62 mph without any power drop"
  • "At least four 0-124 mph go without degradation"
  • maximum speed of at least 250 km / h (155 mph)
  • "It will maintain its maximum speed "longer than you could do it on any public road"
  • range greater than 500 km NEDC
  • 800 V architecture
  • Charge the battery in just 4 minutes to restore 100 (62 miles) according to NEDC
  • 10 to 80% recharge in about 20 minutes
