Another case of measles has been confirmed in British Columbia. This time on Vancouver Island.

Island Health has confirmed a new case of measles in the south of Vancouver Island. This after two people who traveled abroad were infected with the highly contagious disease.

CTV News reports that Island Health has now sent an alert indicating that it is possible that people have been exposed via two sites located both in the Saanich Peninsula.

One of these stores can be found at the Beacon Community Services store on West Saanich Road on March 30 from noon to 3 pm.

The other possibility is the fairway market on West Saanich Road.

The symptoms of measles can be very similar to those of the flu and include fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, diarrhea and red eyes. Followed by the revealing rash that starts on the face and spreads to the chest.

Symptoms may appear 10 to 21 days after first contact.

The last case occurs after confirmed infections on the island in March, but cases do not seem to be related.
