Tens of thousands of pounds were collected to pay for the funeral of a two-week-old baby who died after his pram was hit by a car.
Ciaran Leigh Morris was being pushed along Brownhills High Street near Walsall when a BMW struck his pram.
The vehicle is believed to have collided with another car before veering onto the curb at around 4 p.m. on Easter Sunday, West Midlands police said.
Ciaran was rushed to hospital but died shortly after.
In just three days, an online crowdfunding campaign raised over £ 25,000 to support her family.
Organizers had hoped to get £ 2,000 to help pay for his funeral, but quickly exceeded their target.
James Paul Davis appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 34-year-old man from Walsall has also been charged with driving without insurance, failing to stop at the scene of the collision and failing to report it.
He was arrested in nearby Bloxwich shortly after the crash.
Davis was remanded in custody until he appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on May 4.
Ciaran’s parents paid tribute to him saying, “Mom and Dad’s heart will always hurt, we love you more than anything.
“We couldn’t keep you long, but we are happy to have had the chance to meet you, take care of you and call you our son. Fly high angel.
Lisa Ford, Ciaran’s great aunt, told Sky News: “We are a very close family… and it has torn us all apart. We all have to stay strong, we just have to be strong. It’s just heartbreaking.
Detectives are continuing their investigation into the accident.
West Midlands Police Sgt. Mark Crozier said: ‘We are continuing to investigate the circumstances which led to Ciaran’s tragic death and we have specialist officers in contact with his parents to keep them informed of everything. new development.
“We’re always keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and might have images from the front edge camera or at the time of the collision.”
