President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut Friday the construction work of a mini-port and landing site in Moree in the district of Abura / Asebu / Kwamankese, in the region Central.
The project, which includes the construction of a breakwater, a wharf wall, dredging and ancillary facilities, provides for the construction of similar facilities at Senya Beraku, Dixcove, Elmina, Moree, Mumford, Winneba, Gomoa Fetteh, Teshie and Keta.
The project contractor, China Harbor & Engineering Company, is expected to complete the project in 18 months.
Addressing the residents of Moree as part of his three-day tour of the central region, President Akufo-Addo said, "You have reliable contractors who will execute this project. They informed me that the project would be completed in 18 months. "
"By November 2020, 70% of the work would be completed," said the president.
Other ancillary facilities that will complement the fish landing site include cold stores, ice factories, water and electricity supply, washing facilities and toilets, net repair hangars. , as well as nurseries and daycare centers for women.
"This is the result of excellent collaboration between the Ministries of Transport and Fisheries. There are eleven fishing ports throughout the country and at least six of them are designated for the central region alone.
