Motorola brings RAZR foldable smartphone

After the failure of the first, Samsung definitely markets the Galaxy Fold in September 2019. Huawei, on the other hand, has postponed the departure of Mate X even further. In addition to the two giants of smartphones, Motorola also wants to market a foldable smartphone. The manufacturer, who now belongs to Lenevo, however, is based on a different concept.

Motorola is relying on another folding technique

Although you can deploy the Galaxy Fod and the Mate X on the longitudinal axis of a tablet, the Motorola smartphone (possibly called RAZR) has to fold horizontally. This makes it much more compact and fits easily into smaller pants pockets. Information such as notifications, calls, etc. are then displayed on a small additional screen. In addition, this solution should provide a lower price. Designer Sarang Seth from Yanko Design used insider information to create a 3D rendering showing what the device might look like.

On LetsGoDigital, some technical data is already mentioned. According to Motorola's RAZR, a 6.2-inch (collapsible) AMOLED display with a resolution of 2142 x 876 pixels, an additional small 800 x 600-pixel screen, a main camera and unspecified selfie, a Snapdragon Qualcomm processor, 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal memory.

Availability and prices

Technically, the RAZR can not compete with the Galaxy Fold or the Mate X. But the Motorola smartphone should be significantly cheaper. In the United States, it is expected to reach $ 1,500 in the market. Samsung and Huawei are asking for 2,300 and 2,000 euros for their folding cell phones. According to the report, the Motorola RAZR could be launched in December 2019 or January 2020 and arrive on the market immediately after.
