Move on Poldark! Beecham House, drama of the time, gets a makeover

With his scorching air, he is clearly destined to do for ITV what Aidan Turner's Poldark did for the BBC.

The six-part series, to be held in Delhi in the late eighteenth century, shows Bateman, 30-year-old television operator John Beecham, disillusioned after working for the powerful and dominant East India Company.

He follows the life of the Beecham family in their recently purchased mansion. The series was created by the director of Bend It Like Beckham, Gurinder Chadha, who stated that she had initially tried to resist a bad scene similar to Poldark.
