HONG KONG, Sept.28 (Reuters) – Wei Sun Christianson, Morgan Stanley’s co-managing director for Asia-Pacific, will retire from the bank after nearly two decades at the end of 2021, according to a note reviewed by Reuters .
Christianson will remain as Morgan Stanley’s advisory director once she steps down, advising the bank and its clients on China, according to the memo.
Gokul Laroia, the regional co-CEO with Christianson since 2014, will become the sole CEO for Asia-Pacific, not counting Japan. Laroia, who has been with Morgan Stanley since 1995, is also co-head of global equities.
He has held senior positions at Morgan Stanley in the areas of investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and sales and trading.
A Morgan Stanley spokesperson confirmed the contents of the note.
