MTA approves controversial reorganization plan that could remove up to 2,700 jobs

The transformation plan, created with the badistance of an external consultant hired to review the agency's structure, includes the consolidation of certain operations and the reorganization of certain departments. Approximately 1,900 to 2,700 positions could be eliminated, but the MTA management indicates that most of them will be covered by retirements or vacancies.
