MTN Ghana launches 21 Days of Y'ello Care 2019

MTN Ghana officially opened on Monday its staff volunteering program, called "21 Days of Y'ello Care", to undertake activities that would empower young people to have a positive impact on society.

The 2019 program "Creating a Better Tomorrow for Our Youth" began on June 1 and is scheduled to end on June 21.

The program is expected to benefit around 330 unemployed youth and will include activities such as vocational training in pearl making, hairdressing, makeup and construction.

Recipients would also be trained in digital marketing, customer services, financial management, information technology and entrepreneurship.

The program would also empower and encourage inmates in correctional centers and rehabilitation centers to identify and meet their abilities.

Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, President and CEO of MTN Ghana who launched the program, said it was necessary for Corporate entities to give young people job-ready skills.

He explained that the "21 days of yello care" was a challenge for the MTN group. Therefore, to reach the threshold, MTN Ghana needed 95% of staff participation and a 100% stake in the Excom.

"Without a doubt, we all have a crucial role to play. We will have to make a commitment to translate our hopes into reality and to show ourselves as volunteers, "he said.

The CEO advised the telecommunications company's staff to dedicate time to the program to make it fun and inspiring for citizens.

Mr. Emmanuel Asigri, President and CEO of the National Youth Authority, congratulated MTN for its initiative to empower young people. He added that the decision to badociate with the State of New York was commendable and gave badurance that it would be fruitful.

He said that reducing the unemployment rate, especially among young people, was not an exclusive responsibility of the government but also of private entities, and encouraged other private organizations to contribute to the creation of more jobs for young people.
