Telecommunication giant MTN Ghana, as part of its vision, aims to contribute to innovation and introduce elementary and junior high school students to the "Science Set" – a mini lab Scientific that can be placed in every school bag and allowing students to acquire practical knowledge. from what they learn in their test book.
Science Set is a portable kit that allows students from primary and junior high schools to conduct basic science experiments and improve their scientific knowledge in a fun and engaging way. It is able to operationalize nearly 30 experiments including electromagnetic, rectilinear propagation of light and the use of resistors.
In the Western Region, MTN began piloting this initiative at Bethel Methodist Elementary School and at JHS to help students innovate with the elements taught in science textbooks.
Presenting 170 scholarly works to the only beneficiary school in the Western Region, Bethel Methodel and Junior High School, MTN South West Acting Regional Director, Mohammed Tiyuniba Yakubu, said that the era of learning from science and technology was gradually becoming a thing of the past, the initiative will therefore attract young people's interest in studying science.
"We think it will have a positive impact on them by improving their education. We want to bridge the gap between disadvantaged educational institutions, public and private schools. "
He added that the donation was intended to help students acquire concrete scientific technology and make teaching science very convenient and easy.
Mr. Mohammed Tiyuniba Yakubu, however, warned that the program would likely be interrupted from the Western Region if he saw no impact on students' lives.
"After the pilot phase, if we do not see any progress, we will end the program and encourage students to make good use of it so we can expand it to other schools in the area."
Dext Technology's marketing director, Caleb Fugah, also said in the company that the gap between science and science is insufficient.
He added that they have identified schools that do not have science labs to be the beneficiaries, adding that the impact had been enormous.
It revealed that the science teachers of the beneficiary school had been trained in the use of the devices to enable them to train users comprehensively.

He revealed that Dext Technology has also developed microscopes for use by schools as part of science.
When asked how their company would insure the replacement of any room in case of loss of any of the rooms, he stated that the company wanted to replace a room, but he advised the students to pay more attention to the treatment of the whole scientific.
Gifty Pesseh Acheampong, director of Bethel Methodist High School, congratulated MTN for choosing her school for the pilot project and promised to use the technology effectively. In interview, he promised to treat the scientific data set with special care to extend its life.
