MTN will give 300 young people a computer training

MTN Ghana, in partnership with ICODE Ghana, will train 300 young people from the West and Central regions to information technology and entrepreneurship within 21 days of Yello Garcia, a month of volunteer work for MTN employees.

The 21-day Yello Care Program is an annual volunteer program that allows MTN staff to provide services by working in communities to improve the livelihoods of beneficiaries.

ICODE is a technology and business center based in the Western Region. It provides training and mentoring to people with and without skills.

The 21-day training program has the theme: "Creating a better future for our young people".

By the end of this year's training program, it is expected that most of the young beneficiaries will acquire basic computer skills and knowledge, be able to create websites and manage websites belonging to to other people.

As part of the entrepreneurship program, young people will receive training on good recordkeeping and the proper management of their business to maintain or develop it.

Young beneficiaries with the best ideas for business projects will be badigned to ICODE for further training.

Prince Owusu Nyarko, Regional Senior Director of MTN South West Business, revealed it at the launch of the Yello Care program for this year's students at Sekondi College, in the metropolis of Sekondi-Takoradi.

He said that it was important to give young people the skills needed for employment because they are the backbone of the nation.

He pointed out that MTN would also mentor 150 CEOs and also hold an individual coaching session with them as part of the Bright Young CEOs Summit and Digital Coaching initiative.

"This should take place at Takoradi Technical University and Cape Coast Technical University," he said.

"This project will equip young CEOs with techniques on how to create and grow their young business, as well as how to use the digital space to boost their operations," he said.

"Another recent problem we have seen is addiction. I am sure that many of you have followed the media reports about the abuse of tramadol and other drugs. We must certainly do something about it, "he added.
