An Accra circuit court granted Salifu Maase a plea of the Radio XYZ surety based in Accra for 50,000 GHc with three sureties.
The accused has been charged with offensive conduct for breach of public peace and publication of false information that may cause fear and panic.
Maase's lawyer, Godwin Tamakloe, told the court that his client was ready to stand trial.
He stated that the charges against his client were minor offenses, adding that the accused had substance people who defended him and that he had therefore asked the court to pay him a bail.
Deputy Police Superintendent George Amegah told the court that the prosecution was not opposed to the bail application, but had pleaded with the court to ensure that bail conditions would result in the accused appearing in court for a speedy trial.
The court chaired by Ms. Eva Bannerman Williams then granted Mugabe bail after listening to both parties.
The case was sent back to May 2 for the opening of the lawsuit.
Context
Mr. Maase reportedly stated in his XYZ Radio broadcast that he had credible information regarding a threat to Mr. Manbadeh Awuni's life, including the documentary about alleged formation of a militia group. at the former seat of government, Osu Castle, dominated great conversations in the country.
The government said the documentary was misleading and denied sponsoring the group.
State Minister for National Security, Byran Acheampong, said the activities of the group, known as De Eye, at Osu Castle were halted in October 2018.
Reports of death threats follow the badbadination of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist with the IP Tiger Eye headed by Anas Aremeyaw.
Hussein-Suale was shot dead near his family's home in Madina on 16 January.
His badbadination is believed to be related to the role he played in the investigation into corruption in Ghanaian football in 2018.
