A FURIOUS mom swore to boycott McDonald's after the fast food chain refused to give his three children the free meals they had earned.

Hull's mother said her three children, ages 13, 11 and 5, visited a McDonald's store on Friday, eager to receive their free food.

They had collected 12 stickers on the monopoly promotion and were waiting for a free meal.

But their "disgusted" mother told the Hull Daily Mail that the kids were coming home upset after being told by staff that they could not recover the prices since they were under 16 years old.

She said, "They went home and they were very upset to talk to them abruptly.

"I was disgusted. You do not expect a McDonald's staff member to talk to your kids as they did because they were trying to grab the free food. "

The mother then confronted the staff of the Cottingham Road branch.

It was said that all children had to have an adult with them to exchange their free food because they were under 16 and that it was a form of play.

"If it's a form of play, why do it in the first place. It's a scam, "said the mother.

She said that children should not be encouraged to buy more junk food in the "money making system".

This is not the first time children are disappointed by the game of monopoly.

11-year-old Amber Medd and her friend had visited the Willerby (Yorkshire) branch of a fast-food chain alone, and had ordered adult meals with stickers to take off as part of the Monopoly game.

They were delighted to see that they had won a free portion of medium sized fries, but when Amber approached the counter, she was told she was not old enough to claim it.

Lynsey Medd, 41-year-old Amber's mom, said that McDonald's had violated UK gambling laws and should not sell meals under 16 years old.

She asks the restaurant to give unbranded packaging to children who buy food to avoid disappointment and stop promoting the game.

A McDonald's said: "In accordance with current advertising regulations, our Monopoly promotion is not suitable for under 16s.

"To avoid unnecessary disappointment due to this age limit for promotion, this is clearly stated in all promotional advertising, packaging and on our website McDonald's Monopoly."

Monopoly promotion prices range from £ 100,000 to first prize, as well as cars, expensive technology, vacations and free food vouchers.
