One of the suspects declared wanted by the police following the recent murder of Wasiru Iddrisu at the Ashanti Regional Office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), an opposition party, was arrested.
Identified as Sulemana Fuseini aka Akon, he was arrested Thursday in Kenyasi Abirem by a crowd in Kumasi. This brings to four the total number of suspects arrested by the police in connection with the murder.
The crowd, who traced Akon back to his hiding place with the aim of arresting him, was stabbed and injured. He would have returned to the area after being hidden elsewhere.
Akon, under police custody, was sent to the Komfo Anokye University Hospital (KATH) for medical treatment, after which he was taken into custody pending his court appearance in Kabul. next week.
Three other suspects who reported to the police and who have since been tried in the Asokwa Court of First Instance are in custody. Wasiru, also known as Aboabo Gyata, was shot dead by people suspected of belonging to the Hawks, a pro-NDC group.
The three out of 12 suspects who reported to the police were Dauda Ibrahim aka "Wayo", 40; Samuel Agyin aka "Rock", 32, and Abdul Ganiyu, 37, "Small."
On 18 February 2019, Wasiru Iddrisu, member of the regional working group of the National Democratic Congress of Ashanti, was shot dead while members were suspected of belonging to the Hawks, another pro-NDC group of the regional office of the ashanti party.
Abdul Rahman was also shot.
