The Right Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, said singing is a form of prayer and has more power than words, so music is an integral part of l ‘church.
He said this at the 63rd Annual Conference of Delegates, Presbyterian Choirs’ Union in Akropong, citing Acts 1: 8, the moderator said that the Church of Christ is to be spiritually, morally, socially and environmentally witnesses to God.
Reverend Mante said that a church that does not spend about 70 percent on spiritual growth is a dead church; “New churches are aggressively looking for members, so as Presbyterians we need to change our mindset as pastors, catechists and members to win souls.”
He noted that “music is a revival wing in our worship of God and I challenge all songwriters and music directors to write songs that will pierce the soul.”
The Reverend Prof. Mante said being a moral witness for the Church required living a life led by God and renouncing things of corruption. In addition, the ministry and living in sin did not create good effects on the lives of others.
The moderator encouraged all churches to have holistic ministry that will bring transformation in the lives of others.
“Singing in the Church of God is a spiritual matter; therefore, I want to see a choir that prays and reads the word of God, ”he added.
He reminded members that Covid-19 is real and still exists, hence the ban on flying by Presbyterian choir groups was still in effect.
The moderator urged Presbyterian choir unions to continue to observe safety protocols and hide as they continued the good work of God.

He urged the singers to live exemplary lives by doing what was right and having good relationships with others; “As choristers, do your best to live a life like Christ. You should not be stealing and being on bad terms with others ”.
“I am a proud Presbyterian and I love our hymns; therefore, I urge you all to go out there and minister to winning souls for Christ. Because preaching the word of God is something that has been around for years, ”he said.
The Aburihene also pledged to support God’s work and donated an undisclosed sum of money to the Union.
Mr. Timothy K. Akyea-Obeng, National President of the Presbyterian Choral Unions, said the theme; “Christ be formed in you, equipping the saints for ministry: singing a complete ministry for the saints,” seeks to challenge the choir to use the gifts of God to serve, strengthen and encourage mankind to glorify God .
