Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, aspiring to the presidency of MUSIGA
Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, a presidential candidate for the parliamentary elections of the Union of Musicians of Ghana (MUSIGA), has sought, through the High Court, an injunction in elections.
In a press release issued by Ras Caleb, he stated that he was not satisfied with the way in which the electoral issues were handled by the elections committee.
"As an aspirant, I followed the electoral process with keen interest and I realized that there were many beaches in the electoral system, especially the road map. to the current situation of the voters list / opinion of musicians, "he wrote.
He added that he did not believe in the credibility of the current register of voters that was released.
"The list was published by the Election Committee, which has long been waiting for pressure and pressure from members and candidates for the election, as the list / register of electors. I found it rather unfortunate if that is indeed what the Election Committee will rely on as a register of electors for the next election, "he added.
In the writ of summons observed by citinewsroom.com, seeks to make a statement that the current register of electors established by the electoral committee of the Union of Musicians of Ghana (MUSIGA) is not credible and can not be used in its imperfect state for the conduct of the upcoming 2019 National Executive Board elections in MUSIGA to ensure a fair and transparent outcome.
He also wants the Elections Committee "to compile an authentic and credible register of voters again".
Postponement of elections
Meanwhile, the national elections of the Union of Musicians of Ghana (MUSIGA), which were postponed until July 10, 2019, were reprogrammed again.
In a statement issued by the union, the second report is mainly intended "to allow the Electoral Commission to complete its operational and administrative work on the exercise of the shortlist of voters" .
They say it will force regional directors to conduct elections in all regions.
The elections, originally scheduled for June 26, 2019, were postponed to July 10 at a meeting of the five-member committee appointed by the union's National Executive Committee to oversee the impending elections.
According to committee chairman Smart Nkansah, the decision was based on comments received by the committee when the register of electors for the elections was first released.
He said the Ghana Election Commission (EC), which would oversee the elections, is currently working on the restricted voter registration for the 2020 national elections.
This would be the first time that all regions have voted in their respective centers.
