Some articles were given to disadvantaged people in the Northern Region
On Wednesday, June 5, Muslims around the world will commemorate the annual Edul-Fitir celebration after 29/30 days of fasting and prayer of the holy month of Ramadan of the Islamic calendar.
As part of the celebration, a Ghanaian Muslim group abroad, a program supporting the Ramadan program of Muslims in the diaspora, donated food items to selected disadvantaged households in the Tolon and Mion districts in the northern region.
Items donated to a total of one hundred (100) households include mini-sacks of rice and boxes of tomato paste.
This gesture is also part of the group's annual support mechanism for people in need in disadvantaged communities in the North.
Alhaji Salifu Abdul-Dahim, who made the presentation on behalf of the group over the weekend, explained that benevolence stemmed from Islamic teachings to give alms especially during the month of Ramadan.
According to him, "it is also so that people can celebrate Eid with joy and enthusiasm".
He stressed that the humanitarian initiative launched in 2018 aimed to badess the plight of the disadvantaged and those in need, especially widows and orphans.
The beneficiaries of the gesture were satisfied with the support offered to them and prayed for the members of the group who contributed to the reward of Allah (God) on earth and in the hereafter.
