Missionary in charge of the Gomoa Mangoase area of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Mauvi Abubashir Donkor urged Muslims, especially young people, to celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha in moderation to portray the true meaning of Islam.

According to him, Islam is synonymous with peace. “So all activities related to religion should be done in peace and moderation.”

Addressing Muslims in Gomoa Mangoase in the central Gomoa district of the central region to mark Eid-ul-Adha last Tuesday, Mauvi Abubashir Donkor encouraged them to adhere to the teachings of the Holy Quran.

“As we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, let us do it in moderation to present to the world the true meaning of Islam.

“Our mandate as Muslims is to live in peace with one another. We should not do things that will tarnish the image of Islam.

“As our ancestor, Ibrahim obeyed God and was ready to offer his only son Ishmael as a sacrifice to God, let’s imitate his sacrificial faith and respect it.”

Maulvi Abubashir Donkor warned young people against ungodly celebrations.

“I would like to warn Muslims, especially young people, against ungodly activities as we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha which is one of the five pillars of Islam.

“Activities like Sala Jam, street motorcycle racing and others promote fornication and are“ Haram ”to the teachings of Saint Quarn.

“I also want to call on parents to watch their children’s activities in this festive atmosphere.”

The Responsible Missionary called on Muslims to be ambassadors of peace and stability in their communities.

President of the Gomoa Central constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Omar Adam, on behalf of Gomoa Central MP Hon Naana Eyiah, wished the Muslims in the constituency happy Eid Mubarak.

She said that President Akufo-Addo is doing everything possible to develop the communities of Zongo.

Likewise, DCE for Gomoa Central, Honorable Benjamin Kojo Otoo also celebrated Eid prayers with Muslims at different locations in the district.

He pledged the Assembly’s commitment to the development of Muslim communities.

According to him, certain infrastructures had been built to improve the socio-economic life of the population.

Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo urged parents to invest in their children’s education to become future leaders and responsible citizens.

Gomoa Nasara Nuclear Power Plant Coordinator Alhaji Baba Adam Musa thanked the Hon. Naana Eyiah, MP for Gomoa Central and Deputy Minister of the Interior as well as the DCE, the Honorable Benjamin Kojo Otoo for their collaborative effort to improve the lives of people in Muslim communities.
