The former president, Jerry John Rawlings and his mother, Victoria Agbotui
The office of former President Jerry John Rawlings has dismissed reports that the mother of the former head would have died.
Social media reported that Ms. Victoria Agbotui had pbaded away.
But a brief statement issued by the former president's office said: "Mrs. Agbotui is alive, healthy and warm.
"Members of the public should ignore the report, please."
The mother of the former president, from Dzelukope near Keta, in the Volta region, will turn 100 in a few months.
During interviews, Rawlings described his mother as a strict disciplinarian whose realistic approach shaped his life.
